Pipon Village

Saturday & Sunday

91 Street & 118 Avenue

Our Indigenous neighbours welcome you! Enjoy traditional activities, both Saturday and Sunday, including traditional storytelling, music, dance, snowshoeing, crafts and delicious bannock.

In the Cree language January is referred to as the Great Moon ‘kise-pisim’. As part of our January Deep Freeze Festival we say ‘Tawow’ or ‘welcome’ you to a great indigenous experience. By visiting our Pipon Village (which means winter in Cree), you can gather round our central hearth to warm your hearts and hands as well as visit with Indigenous Artisans selling their wares while you sample tea and hot bannock freshly made over the fire.

Thank you to Chief Billy Morin, Enoch Cree Nation, and River Cree Casino for their continued partnership with Arts on the Ave.

Fireworks! A Tribute to Don Snider

Saturday
6:00 pm – 6:20 pm

Behind the Alberta Avenue Community League

Don Snider was a leader in the Edmonton arts community, and the Production Manager of Kaleido Family Arts Festival and the Edmonton Edmonton Folk Music Festival amongst others, as well as an integral part of Deep Freeze Winter Festival’s Fireworks show. Don loved people, the arts... Don loved life.

This is the sixth annual fireworks show dedicated to Don and legacy of joy he has left us with.

“Life is beautiful.” — Thank you Don.
